The Night Sheathe - Part 2

Damien tossed up a dagger around seven feet away from the cell doors under the military headquarters staring that the young lady in front of him, "argh you know, I have to say you put up a brave fight" he laughed, feeling his neck, "caught me off guard ya did. But thanks to my partner, this is the end for ya" he laughed, looking at the blade as he flipped it around and twirled it between his fingertips.

Sabine, Huffing she flipped her hood back as her head arose, her face in a snarl with bitterness, "Your lucky your friend was there fleabag! Or you would've become a meal for the ages..." she trailed off licking her maw in hopes of scaring the brute some. "Now why don't you run back to your 'friend' with your tail between your legs. Hmm?" she grinned hoping something interesting might happen.

Damien laughed, keeping an eye on her as she moved the chains around from the cell "yeah right, you’re lucky we had the healer fixed you at all, with those wounds and all" he pointed with the dagger, "im just hear to keep ya company, can’t leave a lady like yourself alone out here, it would be rude of me to do that"

She gave back a grin, "Pfft.." she shifted her head grabbing the fabric of her cloak within her mouth and flicking it back onto her head, hiding her face from him, "Oh what a gentleman!" she scoffed almost vomiting at her comment. Shuffling around with her tail she was looking for something to knock this idiotic fool out so she could be in peace.

Damien Crossed his arms, "Just wait till the big guy hears about you, you’re going to see something far more terrible than this slammer, you have committed a high crime against the leader of our kind!" he hissed, "if it were me I would have taken you out in your sleep, but my partner insisted I didn’t” he muttered something besides his shoulder, giving out Truss’s name, “How disappointing, You must have really prayed well, cause of him your still alive" he pointed with a low grown to keep an eye on her and his distance from the cage.

She rolled her eyes, “OH I'm petrified.." she scrambled around from the chains, still shuffling around to find something she could use as a projectile, "I’m so sure you would've... Such an easy target would kill such a magnificent predator" she smirked finally finding a rock. Slowly curling her tail around it she awaited the right moment to project it at the idiotic buffoon.

Damian Hissed as he lifted the dagger, “Oh I am gonna-“

“That is enough" a voice echoed across the hall hearing the sound of loud clanks of steps, "honestly these children just get more violent with every generation" he mewed as Damien stood at attention.

S-sir what are you doing down here-" he was cut off as he raised his cane telling him to yap it.

"hand me a chair over there, my legs are killing me” he mewed walking his way down.

Noticing, well hearing a wise old voice she had a feeling she might want to seem less aggravated. Relaxing her tail she released the rock and hung her head, awaiting whatever shall come next. "Please don't say execution.." she huffed under her breath as she awaited this wise sounding cat's appearance on her fate.

Damien handed him a chair and sat down hearing crackling from his back, "now dear...I do not believe in killing young children, you are to be trialed first" staring at Damien, "why are you always scaring our prisoner" he joked as Damien stood nervous, "relax all of you" he mewed with a cough, "now Damien if you would please do me a favor and bring use something hot to drink" he jump and gave a face of protest, "I am fine, I can fend off for myself if she gets too rowdy, after all she can’t get out in anyways" he gave in a short break as he placed his cane in front, "now we can talk in a civil manner" he smiled with his eyes squint almost like they were closed.

Hearing this rather pleasing voice she looked up. Her cloak semi falling off her ears wanting to fall completely off. "R-Really?" she played the old innocent act until she knew she could trust this old cat she saw. "Would you mind you stupid guard! Let him speak and keep your muzzle out of interrupting!" she snarled wanting to know what all was going to happen to her. Or what she was applicable to pry out of the context that would come from this conversation. "Who are you, may I ask?" she barely looked at the cat resting himself upon the chair.

In a flash he lightly bopped her with his cane, "first off manners, he is one of my protectors" he mewed placing it back down, "as you are aware I am Marcus Arbonello" he mewed, Pulling out a little trinket, "So MS. Sabine was it?" he chuckled seeing the shock on her face, "Is this what you wanted so badly?"

Shaking her head a bit to get rid of the feeling from the bop. She looked in awe as this old cat knew her name. Her TRUE name! "H-How do you know my..." she stopped as he showed her the glowing trinket she had tried stealing. "Yes.. I needed it to save my and others lives in the life of a rouge." she bowed her head as if ashamed.

"Oh I have ways of knowing people, A member of the fang thieves I presume" he mewed as he lifts the trinket, Marcus chuckled as he ripped the bottom portion open and pulled a few wired from below, "hmm you guys throwing it around makes it harder to repair....ah" the trinket lite up again and he placed the crystal on top, "their we go, and here" he gave her the trinket sliding it through the bars

Surprised she reached out trying to grasp it. Feeling the chains pull on her wrists she decided her tail must be long enough to reach. "Why are you giving me this?" she mewed in awe, as well as confusion. "And the fang thieves are not where I lie my heart. I fend for myself and those who are in need." she mewed quietly.

Marcus's ears flicked, "the trinket you stole was a fake" he mewed pointing at it, "it was one of my creations, simply a piece of art I make in my study is all, there are many like it around my building, maybe worth 50 Cysis each" he leaned forward, "its considered important seeing as they believe in such a relic, but it doesn’t exist, so keep it a secret between us, or not ill let you choose that" he smiled, "but that is not why I am down here"

She stared at the object, her eyes widened with shock as it instantly was replaced with anger,'A FAKE!" she growled in her mind as well as in reality. Throwing down the fake thing she hissed looking back up to the old one, "What a fraud... You know how many lives that would have been killed if that was found fake!?" she hissed trying to lunge toward this old wise cat. "Why?! Why do you want me?! Why is this such a crime if a fake?!" she yelled still trying her best to lunge forward.

He bared his fang at her, "if you brought that to them you yourself would have been dead child" he said lightly, "now sit down" He ordered, Pushing her back with his cane, "I too was a member after all, I know exactly where you’re coming from" He smiled, “and the lives at stake would also suffer if we did not stop you.”

“Now let’s look at your file” He continued pulling out a paper showing a record of Sabine, "hmm Sabine counted for thievery at the sighting of the embassy building, in suspicion of assassination, which I doubt, taking secrets and selling them to the war dealers, if you can even find any," he looks at her in awe, "now here is something interesting, stealing an artifact of the royal quarter and almost got away, now that part intrigues me" he places the paper down, "now how did you a young...and attractive girl as yourself, get through my defenses and successfully got away to your home, not many people have gotten that far I tell you"

She sat down shaking her head from the push of the cane, "It was simple. Your guards weren't doing their job that well." she chuckled. "Now if you would kindly not touch me again with that cane of yours I will talk more, but if that can't be in gratitude then I shall not say another word." she looked straight into Marcus's eyes. Her stare as cold as ever hoping to get what was said taken care of. "Now are we in agreement with that or do I have to sew my own lips together?" she prodded her tail along her chains.

Marcus placed the cane between his legs, “Hmm noted, but you do know your life hangs in the balance right now, so this is the only option you got" he saw Damien walk forward with two cups and hot water filled with leaves, "ahh yes brewed leaves, thank you Lieutenant" he mewed pouring two cups and picking one up, sliding it over, "you must be thirsty, please heal your spirits" he mewed, "I want you to know that your special, its amazing that a young woman at your age can fight so well" he mewed crossing his legs and placing his fingers together, "as have another one of my guards has told me how you fight, dagger and blade?" he lifts up his cane and smacks the dagger from Damien’s fingers, catching it from his fingers and flicking them around with a professional stance. Tossing it against the hardwood ceiling. "I know this is hard, but you’re standing in the wrong path"

He lifts up his hand, "I want to help you, you shouldn’t lay in darkness, and we are good people. We can help you" he takes in a short break, "no one wants to be alone forever but the next step can only happen with the choice of your own words, although I cannot protect you for what is coming next if you won’t let me"

Barely taking a sip of the warm liquid, she shunned it. "I had to learn at a young age, that is how I gained my skill." she half heartedly spoke. "In wielding a dagger, and blade all comes with knowledge of stance, movements, and sound mind." she bowed her head again beginning to feel overly relaxed from the small sip she had taken. Flicking her tail she accidently knocked the glass some spilling the luscious liquid. "I'm on the wrong path?! Pfft.. This is my life unless you can make a better offer!" she laughed a bit as her ears tingled.

Marcus smiled, "how much energy you have" he slid down his own cup and gave in a towel, "what if there was a way we could do that, take Damien for example" he points as Damien looks at him confused, "he has a job, a purpose, a home, food, protection, let alone his own family to protect" he pointed out, "and we can provide outsiders the same if they learn that we aren’t so bad, why not be part of us, you, your family and others" he mewed with care.

“We can offer real protection, give you and your family the care they nee, your hardship will give you merit, honor and a pay grade" he went on, "and knowing a thief, they are known to stab each other in the back for greed, we cherish blood as if it were diamonds" he mewed, "I don’t wish to fight you or anyone else, Id rather pull them out from darkness than walk a path to misery and struggle"

He held out a hand, "what do you think about that?"

Rather pondering her options she came to a resolution. Trying her best to stretch out her paw to shake hands, Sabine spoke, "I truly have no family. They are either dead or gone. The ones that sound as if my family is of the loners along my side. Starving and ill." she looked to Marcus. "Please go out and help them. For it seems I am taken a new role in a different society." she outstretched both paws finally reaching his, as she held them with worry in her voice and heart.

Marcus gave a pause in thought thinking back about his time of when he was an orphan, "hmm" Damien looked at him with a sign saying if he was being serious, then he laughed, "hehe, alright, but you first must be tried as you have broken a few laws" he added, "but I believe a setting can be arranged for ya, I shall see you in course in the hall of Truce"

“Im telling you this is a bad idea-“ he shook his head when Marcus raised a paw, “its your word sir” he mewed rolling his eyes with his arms crossed.

“Yes.. Thank you." she whispered letting go of his paws as the chains recoiled her back against the wall. Head bowed in an odd silence she gave her thanks in such weird ways. Tail swaying along the ground rustling the rubble, straw, and leaves. "Please let mercy hover above the ones I had protected up until this point." she spoke aloud hoping her hopes would become a reality.

He got up and walked away, "no need for formalities, I sarve my purpose" he mewed and waved his hands, "let the spirits protect you always" his last words as he walks towards the stairs.

At the top he looks up at Truss who crosses his arms looking down, “you did a good thing Truss, don’t let your choices worry you” he mewed as she stares down at the dark pit from the dungeon, “she will be in good hands, I don’t think execution will be beneath her”

Truss shook his head, “that’s not what im worried about” he mewed looking up at Marcus, “its strange but, I feel like I know her” he looked down, picking up the rusted Dagger that belonged to her, “like Long ago, I don’t know” he mewed.

Marcus closed his eyes and looked up thinking, “hmm if I recall you were also in the territory of the fang thieves and I right” he asked not looking down on him, “but you were only a very young child, no more than 4 months old” he reminded him, “im sure she looks like a lot of people you knew, don’t worry about it” he gave in a short cough.

“Yes sir, and what did you say to her, what did she say?” Truss asked, curious as Marcus looks up and strokes his long chin fur.

“hmmmmmm……” he gave in a short pause, “I forgot-“ he spoke as Truss felt limp, thanks for the info pops, truss thought, “but I do happen to have a mission for you later on” he placed his hands on his shoulders, walking off. “now gets some rest, a court is in session tomorrow at the embassy”

Truss stood at attention with a nod, “yes sir” he mewed and looked back at the stairway, then turned back and continued his normal duties.
